Mentoring Growth Manager
Tori was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, with a small family of four. Growing up in a family affected by autism, being an advocate within the disability culture became the inspiration behind choosing a career in social services. Tori founded the Purdue University chapter of Eye to Eye in 2012, a year after being diagnosed with adult ADHD. Tori graduated in 2013 after completing an internship serving disadvantaged fathers and their families in downtown Indianapolis.
"Great minds don't always think alike." — Steve Silberman.
WHY THIS WORK IS IMPORTANT TO ME
I grew up frequently feeling that my brain was wrong; once someone looked me in the eye and said they understood my life because they lived it too, everything changed. I want to do everything I can to give that intense, wonderful moment of relief, pride, empathy, and joy to as many individuals as I possibly can.
FAVORITE PART OF MY JOB
Being a part of that Howie Mandel moment; when another person looks them in the eye with compassion and excitement and says, 'Me too.'
