Program Manager, Mentoring
Sofia grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. She was diagnosed with dyslexia in the third grade and was moved to a school specifically for students with learning differences. She returned to public school for middle and high school, where she worked hard, but struggled to keep up. Eventually, she was able to accomplish her goal — to graduate from Chapman University, with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and Advertising. She also received a minor in Dance Studies, which served as a creative outlet. Sofia became a Chapter Leader at Eye to Eye during her senior year of college and quickly felt connected to the work the organization was doing.

Eye to Eye gives students the opportunity to explore different learning styles, navigate educational systems and build the skills they need to tackle any situation. Growing up my learning difference posed many challenges throughout my education. Eye to Eye gave me the confidence and knowledge I needed to see my learning difference as an ability and I want to share that gift with other children.
Working with people who have a mutual passion for changing the way we look at education and giving all children the equal opportunity to grow.
