Earlier this week, as many were celebrating the accomplishments of a brilliant geneticist who is dyslexic, our community was stunned by the remarks of a speaker at the Literacy Association of Tennessee’s fall conference. The notions and sentiment the speaker shared only serve to deepen the stigma surrounding learning differences in our schools-the very same stigma we are determined to eliminate.
