National Nonprofit Organization Eye to Eye Brings “Learn Different Day” To Rochester
The Event for Parents, Students, and Educators at Rochester Prep Middle School Celebrates Mentorship Among Students With Learning and Attention Issues
ROCHESTER: Eye to Eye, the national mentoring and advocacy organization run by and for people with learning differences, will launch a free “Learn Different Day” forum for students, parents, and educators at Holy Names University on February 10. The event brings together students struggling with learning disabilities (LD) and attention differences like ADHD and dyslexia their parents, guardians, and educators with similarly identified college and high school mentors and leaders in the LD field.
WHO: Media, parents, caregivers and children ages 10–14 (but fun for all ages) are invited to attend the “Learn Different Day” community event.
WHERE: Rochester Prep Middle School-West Campus, 432 Chili Avenue, Rochester, NY 14611
WHEN: Sunday, February 24, 2018, 1:00 pm–3:30 pm
WHY: Students create empowering projects rooted in social-emotional skills with the guidance of near-peer Mentors with similar learning differences. Inspiring and passionate speakers share personal stories and practical strategies for success. Leaders on learning and attention issues from Eye to Eye and organizations like Understood.org and the Child Mind Institute host a Q & A on supporting students with learning differences in reaching their full potential.
Colleges and corporate leaders are demanding graduates have 21st Century skills to succeed in higher education and the global workplace. Eye to Eye focuses on social-emotional learning-based methods to help students struggling with learning and attention issues build these skills in communications, team-building, creativity, and problem-solving. Join us for an afternoon devoted to information sharing and community building around the 1 in 5 students who learn differently.
